The dangers of your comfort zone
If we are not careful we may get stuck in a comfort zone. It is a place where billions strive to reach and then cannot get out of. Let me make clear what I mean by that confusing statement there. Billions live a hard life and they all want a taste of some comfort in their lives. But once they reach some level of comfort, which may not be optimum for them, they get stuck there, not proceeding to greater heights of achievements.
Of course, there is nothing bad about staying in your comfort zone and not seeking more growth. It is your life and you are entitled to your way of living it.
But often, the comfort zone you are stuck in is not the best one suited for you. It is like a comfortable local maxima. The view from a small hill is better than from the flat ground. But it is even better from the top of a higher mountain. You need to get out of there to be able to experience your inner greater capacities and capabilities. And it is hard. If it wasn’t, we’d all be in a crazy different world right now.
The comfort zone can keep you stuck there forever. But how do you realize whether the comfort zone you are in is good for you?
It is simple. If you are comfortable, but still feel unhappy about it and think that there is much more out there for you to explore, then this comfort zone is not for you and you need to get out of it quick. Of course, no one is comfortable and happy in one’s life. We’d all want more. But wanting that and doing nothing about it is different than the constant hunger gnawing inside you which seeks to explore more even if at significant risk.
That is why it is good practice to occasionally get out of your comfort zone to see what you prefer and never taking for granted your current life.
