Snoozing just wastes your time
When I set the alarm, I try to wake up when it goes off in the morning and turn off the alarm. I try not to snooze the alarm and try to steal some more sleep.
I am not perfect and I have recently caught myself doing this exact thing. So this post is as much for me as it is for you. Snoozing alarm in the morning just wastes your time.
It is an act of procrastinating waking up. But it is useless. I have never found myself snoozing and then ten minutes later waking up as if I got all my required sleep and ready to tackle the day. No. That never happens. And I think it never will.
Snoozing consistently just disturbs your sleep. If you find yourself snoozing often, then figure out if that is your body’s way of asking for more sleep. Are you depriving yourself of sleep every day? If yes, then you first need to give yourself the amount of sleep you need. Else, no matter how much willpower you accrue, you won’t be able to get out of this snoozing trap.
Set a rule: Switch the alarm off and just sleep if you need the sleep so bad. But don’t snooze it.
Waking up every ten minutes hoping to catch some sleep is never going to help. Use the snooze feature when you have set the alarm for something else. Not for sleep.
