On daily blogs

I started writing short blog posts daily a couple of months ago, and I think I have missed only a couple days here and there.

It feels easier now than it did initially, and I believe I can keep doing this. But that is just a speculation. I might magically run out of ideas to write and then stop writing altogether. Or find something better to do with my time than writing such posts.

I had read in many writing books that it gets easier with time. It is true. I put that to the test and observed that it becomes easier.

But the condition is that I must not miss. If I miss even a single day, the next day feels doubly strenuous.

I have noticed writers belong to two clubs: One club says that they love writing and can’t wait to write down something. These say that if you don’t enjoy writing, maybe you should pursue something else. And the other club members say that they hate writing and despise sitting down to write. They’d prefer staring at a blank wall for hours. But still, they write. I seem to belong to this second club right now.

“When I write, I feel like an armless, legless man with a crayon in his mouth.” — Kurt Vonnegut.
