Food, clothing and shelter are not our only basic needs
Ask any recently hospitalized person how it feels and, you will most likely get the answer that it was boring in addition to painful. They wanted to get out of there and in the outer world.
Think about it. If food, clothing and shelter covered all our basic needs, most people would have signed up for extended hospitalizations. Our world would be a different place.
But that is not the case. In addition to those three needs, we need excitement in our lives. We need something to do. We need something that keeps pushing us forward in life. We need fun.
This drive is innate in us. Perhaps that’s why we forget about it and think that the above three are our only basic needs. Each is necessary.
Having something to do or excitement but not either food, clothing or shelter makes it a brutal life. But having the three basic needs and the lack of that excitement also makes life hard in its way.
