Agriculture and quality of life
Many anthropologists say that with the advent of agriculture, human population exploded but quality of life plummeted.
That is such an interesting statement. I used to think that agricultural discovery was a good thing. But that is not always the case. Even though food was more available and under control, humans needed to work longer hours to produce the food than before and in comparison to nomad tribes.
With that came the additional labor of protecting the land and property. Civilizations arose from that point and few people at the top made most at the bottom toil hard in the fields.
So the question is why did the early humans adopts agriculture even if they had to work harder in the long run. Maybe agriculture sneaked up on humans with promise of more food and slowly some tribes began to succumb to the allure of less hungry nights in exchange for more hours in the field.
Hunger is a powerful motivator. Anthropologists also note that many isolated nomad tribes over the world have one common complaint: they are often hungry.
