A growing friend

One of my friends has started picking up the habit of reading and has read a handful of books in this year. Before 2021, he says he had not read more than a couple books, his whole life.
I am glad for his discovery of the joys of reading and learning and being an autodidact. I am excited to suggest him more books and encourage him to read for life. A little encouragement will go a long way. It is like nurturing a seedling. Once you have helped it enough, it then becomes self-reliant and grows on its own into a giant tree.
It takes nothing, literally, to encourage someone, and what pleasant feelings it gives in return. If only people valued this kind of returns as much as they value the returns with money.
